Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to explore various facets of research and science in the field of physics and machine learning. I began my academic journey with a Bachelor's degree in Physics at Ulm University. Building upon this foundation, I pursued a Master's degree in Physics at Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, specializing in Ultrafast Nanophotonics under the guidance of Prof. Matthias Kling. This experience honed my skills in ultrafast optics and photonics, setting the stage for further exploration in cutting-edge research.
Afterwards, I pursued a PhD at Eberhard-Karls-University Tuebingen, affiliated with the Autonomous Learning Group led by Prof. Georg Martius since 2018. This journey has allowed me to delve deeper into computer vision, machine learning, and artificial intelligence in general.
In addition to my academic pursuits, I have gained valuable industry experience through different positions. In 2019, I worked as an ML engineer contractor for Layer7 AI (now Maddox AI), where I applied my skills in machine learning to real-world applications. Subsequently, I embarked on a research internship at Facebook Reality Labs (FRL) in 2020, exploring the realms of virtual and augmented reality with a focus on eye-tracking and synthetic data generation.
In 2021, I had the privilege of conducting an internship at Amazon Web Services (AWS), where I gained insights into industrial research, in particular algorithmic fairness and its practical applications. This experience led to a full-time role as an Applied Scientist in the research team of Francesco Locatello at AWS in 2022, further solidifying my expertise in the field of object representation learning.
Overall, my career journey has been marked by a passion for research, a commitment to interdisciplinary collaboration, and a drive to push the boundaries of knowledge in physics, machine learning, and beyond.
