Communication & Media Manager (m/f/d), 80-100%
The ELLIS Institute Tübingen was founded in 2023 and has quickly established itself as one of the leading centers for fundamental AI research. Our mission: to advance pioneering AI research in Europe and worldwide – and to retain top talents in Europe. In the heart of the dynamic Cyber Valley, we work closely with the Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems and the Tübingen AI Center.
To support our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced professional to take strategic ownership of our communications.
Your Responsibilities
- You develop and implement our internal and external communications and outreach strategy.
- You manage and develop our digital presence across our website, news, and social media channels.
- You make complex research tangible: through storytelling, press releases, news articles, and editorial content.
- You build and expand relationships with the press and with stakeholders from science, politics, industry, and society.
- You coordinate interactions between our researchers and the media – from interviews to background talks to media inquiries.
- You design and deliver outreach formats such as public lectures, panels, workshops, Science Days, and press and networking events.
- You build and maintain a strong, recognizable brand for the institute across all channels.
Your Profile
- Solid professional experience in communications, ideally in science, research, or a comparable environment
- Excellent writing skills in German and English
- Proven experience in social media management and running digital channels
- Strategic thinking skills and a hands-on approach to execution and communication.
- A strong sense of storytelling and genuine interest in AI
- Initiative, reliability, and a willingness to take on responsibility

Compensation is up to TV-L E13 (classification and level depending on qualifications and relevant professional experience). The position can be filled at 80–100% employment, and remote working is possible by agreement. We are an equal opportunity employer.
