PIs Sahar & Maksym join EU AI Act

PIs Sahar Abdelnabi and Maksym Andriushchenko have been selected to serve on the EU AI Act Scientific Panel.

Comprising 60 independent experts, the panel will advise the EU AI Office and national authorities on the implementation of the AI Act, as well as on assessing the risks and societal impacts of General-Purpose AI (GPAI) models.

The panel's responsibilities include identifying and alerting authorities to systemic risks, advising on the classification of GPAI models, contributing to evaluation methodologies, and supporting market surveillance activities. The selected experts bring expertise spanning GPAI capability evaluation, risk assessment methodologies, technical risk mitigation, misuse and deployment risks, cyber offence risks, provider cybersecurity, emergent systemic risks, and compute measurement.
